Lay-flat works could be made available as inkjet prints on premium art, matte or gloss papers depending on which is the preferred finish for a given image . . . but commerce neither defines nor informs my purpose, rather, my goal is to seek out that sense of mystery the Japanese call yūgen and the quality that Walter Pater suggests as 'a certain strangeness' in his seminal work, The Renaissance, qualities I strive to entangle if I can with a bit of humor, surprise, irony and perhaps, if Tyche smiles, even beauty, that ineffably sweet wounding of the heart.
